Lessons Student House Comm female leaders learnt during 2018/2019

Mlungisi Makepeace “Mluyonce” Mgozi a proud Gay man who, recently graduated earlier this year despite the constant discrimination he encountered whilst living on-campus at KwaDlangezwa campus.

According to the 25-year-old UNIZULU post-graduate from Durban at UMlazi, some University students can be very unfriendly towards LGBTIQ people because of their ‘lack of knowledge’ concerning the human rights of LGBTIQ community.

“Homophobia is mostly what LGBTIQ go through. You have to be proud, confident and believe in yourself”, said Mluyonce.

Known as a campus social butterfly, Mluyonce made sure that negative statements and behaviours didn’t hinder his spirit. Instead, he refocused that energy into his academic studies.

Mluyonce recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Studies and is currently pursuing his Honour’s degree in BA information science.
