Striving for success rather than perfection!

Happiness Mhlongo [20] is a final year student at University of Zululand, persuading a Diploma in Media studies.

She recently decided to take her chances and enter a TV show Presenter Competition for one of South Africa’s famous morning shows called Expresso which is broadcasted on SABC 3.

Mhlongo’ s lifelong dream has always been to become a television presenter.

She mentioned that people with titles like former Miss SA also pushed in entries in the competition but that was no intimidation to her.

‘I can never strive for perfection because I will never be perfect but, I want to get to that platform of being a presenter (so that I can) continue impacting other people’s lives,” said Mhlongo.

Mhlongo wants people to love the person she truly is and, not what she pretends to be because she is not willing to change anything about herself in order to win.

To her, this opportunity is all not about fame, it’s about offering something new and unique to people.

Her advice to other youngsters in pursuit of their dreams is; “Never allow social norms and people’s perception to determine who you are”.

Mhlongo is grateful for the support from her ‘family and God’.
