UNIZULU kicked off September on a high note with two events: one honouring some of its long serving staff members and the other honouring students who have excelled in their respective fields of study.

These awards are a further testament to the fact that UNIZULU values each and every member of the University community and also encourages excellence in all the sectors of university life.
As Vice-Chancellor Prof Fikile NM Mazibuko put it “we are all part of the subsystems that make the system that is the University work”.
On the arts front, UNIZULU students continue to excel with the choir scooping yet another award and Drama students wowing audiences in Johannesburg. It has also been encouraging to see the number of potential students that have shown an interest in studying at UNIZULU.

More than two thousand matric pupils attended the University’s Open Day held over two days in August while more than 5000 maidens attended the University exhibition stand at the recent Reed Dance Festival.
In August, through some events hosted by the University we celebrated the role played by women in the liberation of our country. This was a month in which women all over the country had to reflect on not only the road traversed but the challenges that lie ahead as we march towards the realisation of the goals set out by previous generations.
The University being a microcosm of the society we live in is not immune to the challenges facing the women out there.  Hence it was encouraging to see women, students and staff alike, participating enthusiastically in various Women’s Day events on campus.
