UNIZULU recently hosted a series of events on 20 years of democracy and freedom as part of academic debate and discourse.

These are important milestone activities in the history of our country. This included a robust public lecture on transformation.  We are grateful to staff and students who took their time to attend and actively participate.  On 18 July, staff and students embarked on 67-minute community work in honour of former South African President, Nelson Mandela’s birthday. During this day UNIZULU provided career guidance and counselling to the disadvantaged youth at Izulu Orphan Projects in Mevamhlophe.  The youth was handed University promotional material and branded warm clothing.  We thank staff and students from different faculties who responded to the call and participated.  Furthermore, the University hosted the Mandela Colloquium – an academic and intellectual event in partnership with iKwezi Institute in which key thinkers reflected and deliberated in discourse on Mandela’s contribution to South Africa’s democracy and freedom.

The University is currently preparing for the Open Day event which takes place on 21-22 August 2014.  This aims to educate school learners about a variety of career options offered at UNIZULU.  This is expected to draw more than 3000 school learners from across the province. Academic and support departments are requested to prepare for this annual event.
